UNIZIK’s Gabriella Chudi-Ajabor wins Miss Teen Beauty Pageant

Miss  Gabriella Chudi-Ajabor, 17-year-old undergraduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK),Awka, has emerged winner of the  2019 edition of the Miss Teen Beauty Pageant.

Also, Peculiar Timi ,19-year-old student of Ekiti State University, was named, among other five male contestants, as ‘Mr Teen 2019’  at the  annual event organised by Make-A-Difference Youth Foundation(MADYF).

The new Mr and Miss Teen were then decorated with staff of office and were  given plaques and  certificates for service as ambassadors to herald  visions and programs of MADYF in the next one year.

It was a night of glitz and glamour, as the 15 contestants took turns to showcase attires that depicted the profession they intend to pursue, and thereafter thrilled the audience to various cultural dances.

The teenagers first appeared on stage with sport attires, followed by the attires of their dreamed profession and then the cultural outfits of each of the tribe they represented.

The fashion style showcase was rounded off with conventional dinner attires which attracted ovation from the cheering audience.

Gabriella, who spoke amidst tears of joy, thanked the organisers of the event and pledged her commitment to the vision of the foundation during her reign.

She told NAN, on the sideline, that she participated in the last three editions of the pageant without winning the crown, until she clinched it at the fourth attempt.

“I am very excited because I never gave up  and I am going to use that as an inspiration to encourage young people not to give up on their dreams no matter the challenges,”she said.

Mrs Janerose Buzugbe, Founder/President of  MADYF, said that the Teens Pageants, now in its fifth edition,  serves as  flagship platform to discover, mentor and empower young Nigerians for positive impact.

According to her, the two winners will be sponsored on a 7-day trip to Dubai, among other opportunities.

She explained that the grand finale was preceded by a 7-day camping period where the teenagers were trained  on entrepreneurial and leadership skills, talent discovery and character molding by seasoned professionals.

“This is to help them become self reliant and well grounded to succeed and make difference in their families and society at large.

“We encourage them to win early in life and then run with their success,”she said.

High point of the event was the presentation of certificate of participation to the contestants, and laurels to friend and partners of MADYF.

Nollywood Produces 541 Movies in 2022 First Quarter – NFVCB

Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, Executive Director/CEO, National Film and Video Censors Board(NFVCB), says the board received and censored a total number of 541 movies produced by the Nigerian film industry in the first quarter of the year 2022. adsbygoogle || []). push({});

He made this known in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

According to him, the figure was made available by the Department of Film Censorship and Classification of the board in its First Quarter Report for the year, which captured all films submitted to the board from across the country.

The report is for onward submission to the relevant Federal Government authority for the compilation of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first quarter (GDP) Q1, 2022.

The first quarter report indicates a sharp increase in the number of movies produced from 382 in the last quarter of 2021 to 541, representing 42 percent increase.

“We are happy that the industry is beginning the year on a good note as indicated in the increase in the numbers of films that the board received for censorship and approval in the first quarter.

“There is no doubt that our film industry is a key contributor to national economy as the films being produced is a clearly reflection of the direct and indirect jobs the sector is creating.

“NFVCB as Federal Government agency is committed to providing enabling environment for filmmakers, we therefore urge them cooperate with us my ensuring that they submit their films for classification”, he said

According to the statement, Lagos State has the highest number of movies produced for the period with 179, while Abuja followed with 164 movies and Onitsha is behind with 121 movies.

The analysis by censorship location further shows that Kano has 42, while Port Harcourt is 26, as Jos and Benin recorded six and three movies respectively for the period under review.

NFVCB is a Federal Government body that regulates the films and video industry in Nigeria. The Board is empowered by law to classify all films and videos whether imported or produced locally.

It is also the duty of the Board to register all films and videos outlet across the country and to keep a register of such registered outlets among other functions.

An heated argument that ensued between Cross and Nini broke him down in tears after Nini, a fellow housemate called him a dumb person.

This argument ensued between the housemates on wed Big Brother Naija, BBNaija housemate, on Wednesday morning after a prior argument between the both housemates in the bathroom which escalated into them throwing insults at each other.

Nini said Cross is a dumb person who she just tries to be cool with just to massage his ego.

Angel intervened afterwards by consoling Cross, stating that Nini didn’t say all she said intentionally.  “I’m sure Nini didn’t mean all she said, I’m sure she didn’t mean all that. “You’re smart and your brain is not small,” Angel told Cross.
