Miss Igala for the year 2020, Queen Favour Makolo has concluded plans for the establishment of Sanitary Pad Bank in Kogi state for free disbursement of the commodity to the down trodden girl child in rural communities. push({});

In a Statement by the Igala Beauty Queen made available to Our Correspondent on Tuesday, the PAD BANK project is an initiative tailored at estbalishing Sanitary Banks in rural communities across the state where every girl child can have access to free pads on a monthly basis.

According to the Statement in UNESCO, 1 out of 10 girls in Africa miss school during their menstrual period and eventually drop out as a result of the development.

“In Nigeria, the high cost of sanitary pads have made them inaccessible for poor girls. In some situations, girls face sexual abuse in their quest for money to buy sanitary pads.

“The Pad Bank project is also aimed at curbing this ugly trend and reinforcement of the confidence of girls, especially at the community level, to be proud of their menstrual cycle” the Statement added.

Queen Favour, who hails from Engine-itama in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, is a student of History and International Studies of the prestigious Federal University Lokoja was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Makolo on the 29th of March 2000.

In her interaction with Our reporter, the beauty queen stated that every girl child in the society has the right to achieve their best possible standard of health, adding that due to the lack of knowledge on how to go about their personal hygiene, most of the female child have died or hospitalize for one illness or the other.

According to her, the idea was borne out of the desire to help solve one of the greatest challenges of the girl-child -lack of money to buy sanitary pads and that the Pad Bank project that seeks to establish Sanitary Pad Banks in rural communities where every girl child can go and collect pads for free on a monthly basis.

In extension to her humanitarian services to the girl child, Miss Favour became a Peer Educator and active Volunteer at Heal for Africa Initiative, she also became a convener of AID FOR HER INITIATIVE, which she said is aimed at educating and distributing good menstrual product to women and girls in rural communities and also help reduce period poverty in Nigeria and by extension.

She is also the convener WALK AGAINST DRUG ABUSE with the focus of sensitizing young people on the harmful effect of the abuse of substance/drugs. She was recently nominated as one of the Global Peace Humanity Ambassador Nigeria and the Chairperson of Global Peace Ambassador in Nigeria.

Queen Favour had her primary education at St. Anthony Nursery and primary School Lokoja, before she proceeded to Federal Government College, Ugwolawo were she obtained her JSSC and later Federal Government Girls College, Kabba were she obtained her Senior Secondary School Certificate.

Favour had traits of leadership qualities while in school, as she held several positions like the president Literary and Debating club and also Blue Bell House Captain amongst other. She was formerly Miss Teen Kogi Photogenic and also Miss Teen Ambassador Nigeria.

Nollywood Produces 541 Movies in 2022 First Quarter – NFVCB

Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, Executive Director/CEO, National Film and Video Censors Board(NFVCB), says the board received and censored a total number of 541 movies produced by the Nigerian film industry in the first quarter of the year 2022. adsbygoogle || []). push({});

He made this known in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

According to him, the figure was made available by the Department of Film Censorship and Classification of the board in its First Quarter Report for the year, which captured all films submitted to the board from across the country.

The report is for onward submission to the relevant Federal Government authority for the compilation of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first quarter (GDP) Q1, 2022.

The first quarter report indicates a sharp increase in the number of movies produced from 382 in the last quarter of 2021 to 541, representing 42 percent increase.

“We are happy that the industry is beginning the year on a good note as indicated in the increase in the numbers of films that the board received for censorship and approval in the first quarter.

“There is no doubt that our film industry is a key contributor to national economy as the films being produced is a clearly reflection of the direct and indirect jobs the sector is creating.

“NFVCB as Federal Government agency is committed to providing enabling environment for filmmakers, we therefore urge them cooperate with us my ensuring that they submit their films for classification”, he said

According to the statement, Lagos State has the highest number of movies produced for the period with 179, while Abuja followed with 164 movies and Onitsha is behind with 121 movies.

The analysis by censorship location further shows that Kano has 42, while Port Harcourt is 26, as Jos and Benin recorded six and three movies respectively for the period under review.

NFVCB is a Federal Government body that regulates the films and video industry in Nigeria. The Board is empowered by law to classify all films and videos whether imported or produced locally.

It is also the duty of the Board to register all films and videos outlet across the country and to keep a register of such registered outlets among other functions.

Nini said Cross is a dumb person who she just tries to be cool with just to massage his ego.

Angel intervened afterwards by consoling Cross, stating that Nini didn’t say all she said intentionally.  “I’m sure Nini didn’t mean all she said, I’m sure she didn’t mean all that. “You’re smart and your brain is not small,” Angel told Cross.
