Facelift of Lokoja: Maigari of Lokoja Commends Gov. Bello, Says It’s a Dream Come True

The Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Mohammed Kabiru Maikarfi 111, has Commended Gov. Yahaya Bello on his desired efforts to give Lokoja, the State Capital a new facelift through the construction of the Intercity roads. adsbygoogle || []).push({});

The Royal Father gave the commendation when the Kogi State Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere paid him a visit to intimate him of the ongoing construction work by the State Government in the metropolis.

The Traditional Ruler described the facelift as one that would write the name of the present administration in gold, describing the roads as one that has been left abandoned for long.

While expressing happiness that despite the long neglect of the roads, the Royal Father thanked Gov. Yahaya Bello for making the roads a dream come true and to happen in his time.

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar Ohere, told the Traditional Ruler that Gov. Yahaya Bello has chosen to turn Lokoja into a construction site from now till the end of his administration.

Engr. Ohere explained that the administration has began an ultramodern interchange at Ganaja Junction, saying the aim is to decongesting traffic and alleviate the sufferings faced by commuters.

He further said that aside adding to the aesthetic value of the city, the interchange and roads he pointed out will boost the socioeconomic activities of the State, describing Gov. Yahaya Bello as one who has done a lot, and whose love for the State remains unprecedented.

While noting that with the massive nature of the road work that would begin in the city capital, the Commissioner explained that the road would be embarked upon in the ratio of 70% to 30% so as not to shut down activities and hamper the movement of people.

The Road Construction he added, would be handled by TEC Engineering Construction Company, begining from Nataco Junction, up to Paparanda Square with a befitting overlay.

The Road he added will include the grading and smoothing work from the Saduana Junction, Bishop Delisle, through Kasuwa, Dunamis Junction up to Adankolo, covering Cemetery and Kewon Hotels Roads.

The Commissioner assured the Traditional Ruler of the present administration’s determination to make the state capital befitting, describing Gov. Yahaya Bello as a man whose eyes is constantly on the ball, committed to the well being of the people and is committed to meeting the yearning and aspirations of the people.

Also Speaking, the Chief Engr. of TEC Engineering, Bing Jin, assured and promised that the company would deliver good, quality work within the shortest possible time.

Troops Rescue 31 In Kogi as Kidnappers Abduct 40 CVR Registrants

The ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise has recorded major casualties as 40 CVR Registrants heading home in a bus after their registration exercise were abducted at gunpoint.

The incident happened along Dekina-Ajiyolo-Anyigba road at about 6pm on Friday, 7th of November 2025.

The victims were mostly residents of Abocho community and environs who chattered a bus to convey them to Dekina the LGA headquarters to enable them participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise.

Eye witness said that on their way back to Abocho after the successful exercise, they were ambushed and forcefully abducted by kidnappers numbering over 20 and fully armed.

The news of the mass abduction sent panic waves to the communities there by generating tension and anxieties.

Relief however, came later on as troops of 12 Brigade Lokoja in collaboration with the local security network gave a hot chase to the criminals. This forced the kidnappers to abandoned some of the victims and escaped with few others.

Eye witness also said, “The kidnappers played a fast one on us, they released about 31 of their victims, and we thought that was all and we relaxed not knowing that they simply used those ones for us to calm down. But before we realized their tricks, they had gone far with about 10 victims”

“When the profile of the victims were taken, it was realized that there are about 10 members of the community still missing including the driver of the bus”

It was learnt that the bus was recovered and taken to Abocho police station while security agencies continued their search for the remaining 10 victims in custody of the kidnappers.

The security agencies has vowed to track the kidnappers until the remaining ten captives are freed.

Efforts to confirm the incident by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP, William Ovye Aya failed as he could not respond to calls and text messages.

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his continued support to the Police and other security agencies in the State.

The CP gave the commendation during his maiden visit to the Governor at the Government House, Lokoja over the weekend

Kankarofi stated that his meeting with the Governor focused on strengthening collaboration between the State Government and the Police Command to ensure peace, security, and community development.

He briefed the Governor on:
