The special Assistant to the Director General, National Orientation Agency, NOA David Akoji has debunk the insinuation that the agency is not doing enough in the areas of sensitization, saying that those calling for leadership change at NOA are mischief makers.

Akoji made this statement through a telephone conversation with Informavores in response to a suggestion that leadership change is paramount to effective performance at the agency.

Akoji while responding to the insinuation said that, “The reason why I asked you have done your own research is because it is also important for you to have your own independent fact away from whatever the agency would be saying or away from those who are saying that the agency is not performing are saying. adsbygoogle || []).push({});

“And if you have done some independent checks, one very simple one that you would have noticed without any stress is to say okay, since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic is became known as an emergency situation do you understand and the president setup a presidential committee, did you see NOA mentioned in that committee?.

“Then two, there is also recently been an intervention, a presidential intervention, recognizing the fact that this requires funding. That intervention has gone to 2 institutions, the Lagos state government and the National Center for Disease Controls, (NCDC)?

“Three, This is 2020, budget was approved and signed by the president towards the end of last year have you done research to know whether any budget releases have be done to any federal government agencies and parastatals?

“So if somebody come to you with this type of laying duck argument that is not based on any scientific fact, I think you should just throw it away and discard it because you know the fact, you are more intelligent than that person and you have access to more research information than that person. You should just know that it is mischief that is playing out.

“Now even in spite of this situation that I just described to you using these three examples, if you go to our social media handles, our directors from the 36 states, our community orientation and mobilization officers from all the local government are posting the activities, pictures and videos on our social media handles.

“And you know that our work is advocacy, going into communities, talking to people in the market, talking to people in the motor park, talking to people from street to street, you will see the pictures on our Instagram handle if you visit our Instagram handle.

“You understand the point I am making. So it is extreme unfortunate that mischief makers would choose a time like this when all national attention should be focused on fighting this pandemic to be raising such frivolous allegation that are not based on any finding.

“I would tell the DG that you contacted me but he is not available to speak right now because he is busy doing the work that the people are telling you that he is not doing.”, he concluded.

In a bid to balance our reportage for fair journalism, the Informavores had contacted the National Orientation Agency to get their reactions to the insinuation that leadership change is required in the Agency.
