The traditional ruler noted that Ogu Onoja’s support would serve as an inspiration for his community to strive to embark on self-help projects for improved living condition.

He urged spirited sons and daughters of Ofante community to emulate the good work of the legal luminary for rapid transformation of the area

The Royal Father gave the commendation at the commissioning of a Motorised Borehole donated by Chief Ogu Onoja (SAN) Foundation yesterday.

The monarch described the enormous contributions of sons and daughters within his community towards self-help driven projects as very rewarding and urged them to sustain the tempo.

He explained that government alone cannot provide all the needed infrastructure for every community and appealed to his subjects not to relent in embarking on self-help projects.

The newly installed Onu Egume and Okura District Head in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi state, Chief Simon Ochimana has called on his subjects to maintain peace and unity as well as rededicating their services towards the development of Egume community.

The Royal father made the appeal at a reception organized for him by the Egume- Ome Descendants Union, (EODU) and Stakeholders of the community after his coronation at Idah by His Royal Majesty, Ata Igala/Chairman Kogi State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Alaji Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa.

Chief Ochimana noted that no development can take place without peace and unity among the people.

He pointed out that efforts will be intensified to bring all the Sons and Daughters of Egume together to harness their resources towards the development of the land and uplifting the standard of living of the citizenry throughout his reign.

He appreciated Kogi state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his magnanimity in approving his appointment as the Onu -Egume.

Chief Ochimana on behalf of Egume community thanked the governor for following due process in making his appointment possible despite the delay that accompanied the demise of the former Onu Egume.

The Onu – Egume therefore, pledged his loyalty and support to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration.

In his speech, the President of Egume Ome Descendants Union (EODU), Comrade Sunday Maji hail Kogi state governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the honour and love for the people of Egume.

“On behalf of Egume Ome Descendants Union, the community and the entire people of Okura District, I extend to you our deepest gratitude for the honour you bestowed upon us, by the appointment of His Royal Highness, Simon Ochimana, Onu Egume/Okura District Head.”

The President who also commended His Royal Majesty, the Atta Igala, Alaji Matthew Opaluwa Oguche-Akpa
said his participation did not only elevated the ceremony, but also reaffirmed the timeless bond between Egume traditional stool and Ata Igala ruling dynasty.

“The wisdom, grace, and spiritual guidance you so generously imparted have left an indelible mark upon our hearts and will inspire generations to come.”

Comrade Maji therefore advised sycophants to distance themselves from the new Onu- Egume so as to enable him focus on cleansing the land for productivity and growth.

He, however, promised the Onu that Egume Ome Descendants Union as a body will give all the necessary support that could move Egume forward economically.

The triumphant entry of HRH, Chief Simon Ochimana to Egume community on a horse was enthusiastically given heroic welcome as the ceremony was like Egbe festival.

The Mammoth crowd that greeted His Royal Highness’ arrival shows the love and desire for the people of Egume to have their king.

Group Calls For Respect For Traditional Institutions, Constituted Authorities

A Group under the Umbrella of IgalaBassa Relief and Development Initiative has called on the citizens of Kogi state and Nigeria at large to show more respect for traditional institutions across the country. adsbygoogle || []).push({});

“Showing respect for our traditional institutions will no doubt provide necessary impetus that will give us a good lead for success across the homeland” the group maintained.

The Group in a Statement made available to Our Correspondent in Lokoja over the weekend said the only way to preserve the nation’s rich cultural heritage is to give the desired attention and respect for traditional institutions by all and sundry.

The Group also called for due respect to constituted authorities at all level saying that the exhibition of such attitude would enhance effective service delivery by those in leadership positions.

According to the statement, The IGALABASSA RELIEF and DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE recently launched its project of bringing transformation to the door step of the rural communities as part of its commitment to better the living conditions of their people.

“We had touched communities in Idah and Ibaji LGAs and deferred visits to Olamaboro, Bassa and Dekina as well as the other four LGAs to deepen continuous Sensitization and Enlightenment on healthy maintenance and adherence to the Government’s efforts in preventing the emergence of any disease in Kogi State.

“Whenever we are able to get more intervention palliatives for the people, we continue with the other remaining local Governments in Igala land.

Recall that the Honourable Member had on several occasions visited the National Directorate of Employment for the sole purpose of establishing a functional and beneficial relationship with the Directorate through the office of the Director General.

Thankfully, the collaboration is already paying off as the benefits unfold in bits.

Earlier today, the office of the DG, National Directorate of Employment disbursed cash through the Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES) to 300 petty traders selected from across the 21 council wards of Apa and Agatu local government areas.

Speaking on behalf of the Honourable Member, his Senior Legislative Aide, Hon. Ben Eka, noted that the disbursement was to support the poorest amongst the poor (especially women) who made the noble choice of venturing into micro enterprises to cater for themselves and their families.

He further emphasized that the selection process was devoid of political party or any other affiliation but strictly based on verified micro business owners.

He charged the beneficiaries to properly utilized the stipends in adding value to their businesses while urging the good people of Apa/Agatu to continually support and pray for the Honourable Member as more gestures will spring up in due course.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Martha Ngbede expressed profound gratitude to the people’s honourable, observing that it is a rare practice within the constituency for a politician to recognise the plight of the poor and select non party faithfuls nor political allies for such a beneficial program.

Fatima Mohammed on the other hand thanked Hon. Godday for coming to their aide unexpectedly at a time as this when small businesses are witnessing challenging setbacks due to financial decline.

Speaking on behalf of NDE, Mallam Musa Sadauki, the Benue State coordinator charged beneficiaries to see the Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES) as part of government’s efforts to encourage small business owners.

He further noted that the Directorate would continue to partner with the office of the Honourable Member to curtail the challenge of unemployment within the constituency.
