Easing of Lockdown: FCTA tasks residents against overcrowded area

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA,  has urged Abuja residents to avoid overcrowded areas ahead of gradual easing of lockdown measures in FCT, effective from Monday, May 4.

FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, gave the warning at the Flag off of the distribution of palliatives to vulnerable groups at the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), on Thursday in Abuja.

Aliyu noted that the aftermath of easing of lockdown measures would be dependant of what people do in their own rights hands.

The minister noted that easing of lockdown was the most critical period, adding that experience had shown that even the most developed nations like Germany and Britain recorded high number of Covid-19 cases after the lockdown. adsbygoogle || []).push({});

“Even Ghana is experiencing a high rate of new cases almost 274 after relaxing the lockdown.

“That is the implications that comes with it. It is not time for social visit and loittering about on the street for we do know that by doing that we are endangering the live of our loved ones.

“If you do not have any reason to be on the street, please for your own safety, let us stay at home.

“Let’s ensure that we do not encourage overcrowded areas, instead, obey the social distancing and do not saturate the markets,”Aliyu said.

The minister disclosed that after the Covid-19 pandemic, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) would revisit issues of urban renewal and slum upgrade.

She decried lack of adequate planning in the satellite towns, adding that the administration would do everything possible to address the situation at the end of Covid-19 pandemic.

“What we are seeing today in our suburbs that we are struggling to control is lack of adequate planning of our satellite towns, but at the end of the pandemic, life will never be same and we shall get better,”she said.

Breaking: EFCC Chairman, Bawa, Slumps While Speaking In Aso Rock

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, Thursday slumped at a programme at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Bawa was speaking on the importance of digital identification in commemoration of the National Identity Day when he suddenly became emotional, attributing his demeanour to the death of a staff of the commission. adsbygoogle || []).push({});

He, however, did not give details of the identity of the staff.

Shortly after he said he couldn’t continue his speech and then walked off the stage, sat in his chair and slumped.

The EFCC boss was then immediately rushed out of the hall, accompanied by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr Isa Pantami.

Later, Mr Pantami returned to the hall and said he was now in a stable condition.

Buni Mourns Victims Of Unfortunate Air Strike, Assures lnvestigation of lncident

The Yobe state Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has, directed his Special Adviser on Security Affairs, to liaise with the Nigeria Air-force and the  Multi National Joint Task Force, to look into the unfortunate Air strike.

Buni given the directive when he Send the commiserated with families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate Air strike  on Buhari village in Yunusari local government area of the state.

In a statement signed and issue by Mamman Mohammed,DG, Press and Media Affairs.which was made available to Aljazirahnews in Damaturu the yobe state capital, said although it could have been an accident or mistaken target, but government will join hands with the security agencies to unravel the root cause of the incident.

According to the statement “Government will work closely with the security forces especially the Nigeria Airforce to establish what actually happened” Governor Buni assured.

“This is very important and necessary for us to guard against future occurance and to safeguard the lives of our people.”

Governor Buni also assured the preparedness of his administration to work with all security forces to ensure the safety of the state.

Meanwhile, the governor has directed government hospitals in Geidam and Damaturu to offer free medical services to those who sustained injuries from the air strike.

Similarly, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has been directed to provide relief materials to cater for the immediate needs of the families of the deceased persons and other members of the community.

Recall that at least Ten people were killed and more then 20 seriously injured as a result of aerial bombardment by yet to be ascertained jet on market day.

Governor Bala Suspends Executive Secretary Pilgrim Board Over Alleged Corruption

The Bauchi state Governor,  Senator Bala Mohammed, has approved the suspension of the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi state Muslim pilgrims welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Babangida Tafida.

This is contained in a statement signed and issued by the special adviser media and publicity Muktari Gidado.

The statement further said that the suspension which was communicated to the executive Secretary in a latter signed by the Secretary to the state government Dated the 14 of September was with immediate effect.
