Following the resolution of the House at plenary last week, the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Rep. Femi Hakeem Gbajabiamila had mandated the House Leader, Rt. Hon. Ado-Doguwa and Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub, Chairman, House Committee on Foreign Affairs, to proceed to the war-torn region to ensure that every Nigerian that desires to return home from the epicentre of the conflicts is given the support to do so. A motion in that regard had earlier been moved by Hon. Ahmed Mannir representing Lere Federal Constituency of Kaduna State.
The lawmakers, who departed the country yesterday after very close monitoring of the degenerating situation in the last few days through which they maintained close contacts with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Nigerian Missions in Ukraine, Bucharest, Budapest, Warsaw and other regional neighbouring countries to Ukraine, as well as the fleeing Nigerian nationals, were received on arrival by officials of the Nigerian Missions in the area. The delegation was subsequently led to meet with Nigerian evacuees who were already at the airport awaiting the first flight that would leave for Nigeria.
While interacting with the Nigerian nationals, most of whom are students, the delegation conveyed to them the goodwill of the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives, expressing the hope that the conflicts will soon be over and that no Nigerian national will have any cause to suffer any harm or deprivation in the end as a result of the conflicts.
It will be recalled that, both the Executive and the Legislature are united in the bid to ensure that no Nigerian life is lost in the Russia-Ukraine conflicts. The directive of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila at plenary last week had indicated that nothing would be spared on the part of the Green Chambers to evacuate Nigerian nationals from the theatre of conflicts to safety.
By the flight itinerary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was contained in a release signed by its Permanent Secretary, Amb.Gabriel Aduda, late Tuesday night, evacuation of Nigerians would be done via two Nigerian Airlines, Air Peace and Max Air. Both airlines via separate routes are expected to return to Nigeria today with the first batch, Thursday,March 3.
Over 2000 Nigerian nationals fleeing the conflicts in Ukraine as at Tuesday midnight had been received by Nigerian Missions in countries around the area, including Slovakia, Romania, Poland and Hungary. According to official figures from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nigeria, there are about five thousand six hundred Nigerian nationals in Ukraine, most of whom are students.

Yakubu made the call in Abuja in a stateement released and personally signed, saying that official resolution channels and necessary steps are pursued to address the irregularities and grievance.
He said, “My Dear Brothers, Sisters, Supporters, and Members of the YMK NIGERIA PROJECT,
“I wish to specially thank each and every one of you for your unwavering loyalty, sacrifices, prayers, and relentless commitment throughout the just concluded PRP Presidential Primary Elections.
“From the North to the South, East to West, your overwhelming support, courage, and belief in our collective vision for a better Nigeria remain deeply inspiring to me. Together, we built a formidable movement anchored on hope, justice, inclusion, and genuine national transformation.
“However, it is with a heavy heart that I acknowledge that the outcome declared from the primaries did not reflect the true wishes of our supporters, delegates, and the overwhelming momentum we enjoyed across the country. What transpired was clearly marred by a grand conspiracy and coordinated manipulation against our collective democratic aspirations.
“Nevertheless, I urge all members and supporters of the YMK NIGERIA PROJECT to remain calm, peaceful, law-abiding, and resolute in this difficult moment. We must not allow provocation, disappointment, or frustration to derail the noble cause we have collectively built.
“I want to assure you that we have already initiated appropriate steps through constitutional, party, and legal channels to challenge these irregularities and reclaim our stolen and overwhelming victory. We remain committed to due process, justice, fairness, and the rule of law.
“This struggle is not merely about an election; it is about protecting the integrity of democracy, defending the voice of the people, and securing the future we all believe in for our nation.
“I therefore appeal to all our supporters nationwide to remain united, steadfast, vigilant, and hopeful. Do not lose faith. Do not be discouraged.
“History has consistently shown that truth and justice ultimately prevail over conspiracy and manipulation.
“Further developments and necessary directives shall be communicated to you accordingly through our official communication channels.
May God Almighty continue to bless and strengthen us all.
Yours faithfully,
Engr. Dr. Yakubu Mohammed Kingsley Nigeria Presidential Aspirant, People’s Redemption Party (PRP)

The Ilorin-born security expert commended the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for his consistent fatherly leadership and commitment to peace, unity, moral guidance, and harmonious coexistence among the people of Kwara State and beyond.
“The Emir of Ilorin has continued to serve as a symbol of peace, moderation, and unity. His fatherly role and wise counsel remain invaluable to the stability and progress of Kwara State,” Ajia said.
Ajia, also called on Nigerians to use the Eid celebration to pray for national healing, economic recovery, improved security, and sustainable development across the country.
“As Muslims commemorate the sacrifice and devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), Nigerians must embrace love, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and renewed hope for a better future,” the statement added.
He prayed that Almighty Allah accepts the prayers and sacrifices of the Muslim faithful and grants Nigeria enduring peace, stability, and prosperity
