Gov. Tambuwal, Damilola Oke, Others Receive Peace Achievers Awards

Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and Engr (Dr) Becky Damilola Oke, President of Bstan Group, have received the 2019 Peace Achievers International Awards, alongside other eminent peace builders across Nigeria and beyond. push({});

They were honoured at the 8th edition of the annual award which held on Saturday night at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

Gov. Tambuwal received the ‘Governor of the Year on Peace and Security’ award, and Oke, the BSTAN boss, received the ‘Award for Excellence in Business and Community Development.

Other recipients of this year’s Peace Achievers Awards, which coincided with the commemoration of World Peace Day, include Prince Ned Nwoko who received Award of Excellence in Community Development and Agent of Change and Hon. Charity Vedelago, Chairman,Global Windsor Group was hounoured as ‘ National Integration Peace Icon of the Year.

Dr Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, former Governor of Sokoto State, Hon.Shina Peller , Lady Uche Ifeatu-Obi and Hadi Waziri Tambuwal were also honoured as peace agents, among others.

The award which cuts across all sectors of society also recognized Mr Clement Amunaboye, Chairman Amotoi Group of Companies, Engr Johnbosco Onunkwo for his commitment to peace building through community development and leadership skills.

Ace Nigerian comedian Funny Bone received the Comedian of the year Award, as other celebrities were also honoured.

Amb. Kingsley Amafibe, Chairman Planning Committee of the award and President of Peace Ambassador Agency, organisers of the annual event, said that the award was based on recipients’ commitment to programmes that engender peace, promote youth and economic development and humanitarian services.

He added that since the initiative was non-political, it recognised service to humanity in whichever capacity was the benchmark that earned recipients the award.

“The award is for men and women from different spheres of human endeavours, who through selfless and exemplary leadership, ensure peace and development across the continent.”

“Those who have contributed to peace building in initiatives in Nigeria and Africa, in consonant with the vision and objectives of PAA are carefully selected and honoured,” he said.

The annual Miss Ambassador for Peace pageant, a flagship initiative of the Peace Ambassador Agency, also held at the event alongside the awards, with Miss Blessing Ikpomuosa, 25-year-old Accounting graduate, beating 24 other contestants to clinch the crown as the new Miss Ambassador for Peace.

She is expected to herald peace campaign programmes of the Peace Ambassador Agency in the next one year in line with the visions of the organisation.

Nollywood Produces 541 Movies in 2022 First Quarter – NFVCB

Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, Executive Director/CEO, National Film and Video Censors Board(NFVCB), says the board received and censored a total number of 541 movies produced by the Nigerian film industry in the first quarter of the year 2022. adsbygoogle || []). push({});

He made this known in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

According to him, the figure was made available by the Department of Film Censorship and Classification of the board in its First Quarter Report for the year, which captured all films submitted to the board from across the country.

The report is for onward submission to the relevant Federal Government authority for the compilation of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first quarter (GDP) Q1, 2022.

The first quarter report indicates a sharp increase in the number of movies produced from 382 in the last quarter of 2021 to 541, representing 42 percent increase.

“We are happy that the industry is beginning the year on a good note as indicated in the increase in the numbers of films that the board received for censorship and approval in the first quarter.

“There is no doubt that our film industry is a key contributor to national economy as the films being produced is a clearly reflection of the direct and indirect jobs the sector is creating.

“NFVCB as Federal Government agency is committed to providing enabling environment for filmmakers, we therefore urge them cooperate with us my ensuring that they submit their films for classification”, he said

According to the statement, Lagos State has the highest number of movies produced for the period with 179, while Abuja followed with 164 movies and Onitsha is behind with 121 movies.

The analysis by censorship location further shows that Kano has 42, while Port Harcourt is 26, as Jos and Benin recorded six and three movies respectively for the period under review.

NFVCB is a Federal Government body that regulates the films and video industry in Nigeria. The Board is empowered by law to classify all films and videos whether imported or produced locally.

It is also the duty of the Board to register all films and videos outlet across the country and to keep a register of such registered outlets among other functions.

This argument ensued between the housemates on wed Big Brother Naija, BBNaija housemate, on Wednesday morning after a prior argument between the both housemates in the bathroom which escalated into them throwing insults at each other.

Nini said Cross is a dumb person who she just tries to be cool with just to massage his ego.

Angel intervened afterwards by consoling Cross, stating that Nini didn’t say all she said intentionally.  “I’m sure Nini didn’t mean all she said, I’m sure she didn’t mean all that. “You’re smart and your brain is not small,” Angel told Cross.
