The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Chapter Chairman of the National Automobile Technician Association, NATA, Comrade Ogunsakin Osho Philips has reiterates his commitment to the improvement of the association member’s welfare.

Comrade Ogunsakin revealed this to the delegation of the Socialist Workers and Youths League during a courtesy visit to him in Abuja recently.

Comrade Ogunsakin said “our plan for our members is nothing new. You know we are not on pension, we are not on salary and no gratuity for us but my plan for them (NATA Members) is to be in partnership with any of the Pension Fund Administrator. Because with the pension, where you are putting your one naira, two naira, at the end of the day, you can have a lot of money.

“All the money they are drinking alcohol with and other bad things with can be put into good use. I have told all the chairmen that.

“Secondly, in the former regime I tell all the chairmen that if you don’t carry all your members along, I will make sure that your unit is scraped; which I did for more than two or three units.

“For instance, the other candidate that contested with me was not performing well in his unit. I left him for the two years. I did not take anybody to court or drag anything with anybody and all, but this time around I will make sure this is not tolerated anymore.

“This time around, I am ready to work for them(NATA Members). We have been in the villa about this our association to see the vice president. What and what are they going to do for our people. It is among our fight for our people. We got Apo Mechanic Village too.

“If they can get standard workshop for us, all these independent manufacturers would come and empower them(NATA Members), give them tools. Mobil, Amasco and others can come in because we are the end-users. So that their products can penetrate the market as we are ready to work with them.” he continued.

When interrogated about his challenges as an individual and as an organization, he said, “We have a lot of challenges in the past but have been surmounted. In the past, when we see a land and clear it, government agents will come and pursue us. We are not an illegal association. We have our corporate affair commission certificate to show that we are not an illegal.

“I heard that Kubwa have been revoked but the paper the government gave us is still with us but we are not going to court with them though. We cannot fight the government you know. We will still continue to be begging the government. Anything they want to do in the FCT master plan, we too we are ready.” He concluded.

Comrade Ogunsakin was reelected to office for the second time as the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, chapter Chairman of the National Automobile Technician Association, NATA in a landslide defeat against the opposition candidate.
